It was whilst listening to the easy flow of well-loved song melodies arranged by John Wilson for one of his concerts that the idea came to Dr Stephen Cobb. Why not ask Kevin Larsson, he thought, to do the same for some of the songs from the musicals by John Gowans and John Larsson? As the Music Director for the Southern California Division, a prolific composer and arranger in his own right, and the son of the original composer, Kevin seemed tailor made for the task!
From that moment of inspiration flowed the 21st Century Gowans and Larsson concert, first performed at Regent Hall in June 2013 and then again in Birmingham Citadel in June 2014. This studio recording includes all of the special arrangements used in the concert, and is performed by the select group of vocal soloists and chorus, backed by big band instrumentalists drawn from the UK and Los Angeles, that originally presented the arrangements.
