Vamos Pastorcitos (Spanish Trad./Norman Bearcroft)
Here is an arrangement of a spirited Spanish traditional carol by Norman Bearcroft whose fine trilogy Reflections was recorded by The King's Singers and became the eponymous track of Volume Two of their Choral Essays project in 2008. Bearcroft gives the carol a macaronic treatment, with the verses in English and the chorus in Spanish. The latter is underlain with a very useful phonetic pronunciation of the Spanish lyrics. With its simple vocal lines and rousing accompaniment this piece provides the perfect end number or encore to any Christmas concert.
