The Denington Choral Series, as endorsed by former King’s Singer member Philip Lawson, is a range of choral works set in both SATB and SSA formats that will enhance the repertoire of both Christian and secular choirs. The lyricists and composers are proven songwriters that bring a wealth of experience to the choral market and have provided songs that cover a broad spectrum of styles and difficulty and should appeal to many choirs who regularly present music in churches or concert halls.

This is Philip Wilby's setting of Isaac Watts' famous hymn.  The first two verses are in unison over a gentle ryhthmic ostinato in the piano.  Verse 3 goes into 4-part harmony and has a little more movement and a more developed piano part.  Verse 4 returns to the opening tempo.   The original melody in the alto and bass and has a counter-melodies in the soprano and tenor, after which the piece is brought to a quiet close by a solo soprano with the piano ostinato continuing underneath.
