ABOUT THE BOOK
William Booth's evangelistic and philanthropic movement, The Christian Mission, was born in the east end of London in 1865 becoming The Salvation Army in 1878. The movement spread rapidly throughout the United Kingdom and soon began work overseas. Since then, The Salvation Army has become established in well over 100 countries, over 40 of which have honoured its service by featuring aspects of its work on philatelic matter.
 
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lieut-Colonel Kenneth Daws was commissioned a Salvation Army officer in May 1958. For over 25 years, Colonel Daws contributed articles on stamp collecting to various Salvation Army periodicals and publications. He assisted various agencies who have issued postage stamps to honour the work of The Salvation Army.
